Good looking campsite with plenty of spaces. Short, beautiful, walking trail through the majestic redwoods with some amazing river access. Wonderful for swimming, picnics, fishing, and more. Very nice campground amenities like water faucets, bathrooms and showers.
One of our favorite camp sites… why?
1. It’s close to the beach but not on it so you have the best of both worlds.
2. Even in summer, it’s not supper hot, temperatures around 75-80F and at night drops to the 55-60F.
3. Each site is clean, has a bear box, and a good size. The location of each one is fabulous because you don’t see your neighbors -due to the amount of trees-, allowing each camp site not to disturb others.
4. Amenities are great! Running water, clean bathrooms -flushing toilets- and showers; including ADA facilities.
5. Has hiking trails and close to other camp grounds, hiking areas, biking areas, a little town, to the beach and rivers.
WOOD: $10 for a bundle of 5-8 pieces. Bring your own wood.
Campsites are decently separated. You can see your neighbors but won't be offered to taste their dinner. Bear boxes in every campsite but we didn't see bears, except for that odd print on back window of the car that could be a hand knocking the glass. Box big enough for large Coleman ice chest and food. MOSQUITOES. Everyone got bit. Girls hid in the tent from dusk to dawn in the tent. Water spigot near camp. Bathrooms not far, showers a little further. $0.25/minute for shower. Found $1.25 worked for most of the family. No campfire program during week. Only Friday and Saturday. Jr ranger program started Wednesday. Fire wood sold at entrance for $10/bundle. We used one bundle a night. Check out camp photos site to get nice view of sites. We liked 86 as it fit our 8 man tent. Market in Myers flat that had basics, ice, snacks, etc. Grocery in Fortuna had the rest.
It was perfect for two people, we had the first camp site. There was plenty of room for our tent and chairs. They provide a bear locker and picnic table. All you really need to enjoy your stay. Our neighbors were great, they are quite close, but that's just how campsites are. I've seen many people talk about the highway noise, but it was only loud every once in a while when the loud cars went by. At night though the campsite was so quiet, and if there was anything from the highway we slept through it. I saw a lot of families there. It looked like they just got two sites for larger gatherings. If you're staying for a while and need to use the showers make sure to bring quarters. The bathrooms were always stocked so that was nice too. It was also close to a market nearby and close to all of the other Red wood attractions and parks. It was a much needed stay, we loved it!
Great spot to stop for some Z’s… and more! Each camp spot has its own distinct parking area away from the tent pitch site so your first sight in the morning isn’t the grill of your car. Beautiful, wooded, hilly grounds, suitable for a morning hike. Outlets in the bathrooms for recharging, activities on the grounds, and redwoods all around make for a very magical getaway. Happy camping!
The campground was great! The sites had nice level spots for your tent. The bathrooms and showers were clean and water hot. The rangers were pleasant and friendly. You can't beat the location! We rolled in on our bikes and were greeted with smiles. Totally motorcycle friendly, and we had some great rides on the Avenue of the Giants! I'll be back for sure!
Incredible! We got unlucky with weather. It rained ☔️But luckily we were prepared. The camp was clean and not too noisey. The camp has some strict rules which resulted is us getting a written warning. we needed to build a rain shelter and tie to the trees and we didn’t have protection on the trees. Oops. Will think about that next time.
Good amenities, unique campsites, and a great location. Small camp store nearby has great essentials and the Avenue of the Giants is at your doorstep. Cant wait to go back
